Digital twin shortens the way to the ideal welding system

Robolution and CENIT have been collaborating in the field of robot programming since the automation company was established. Again and again, the partners take new steps together, such as in the project for asynchronous and synchronous cooperation between robots. In the latest project, the effort involved in programming and validating the manufacturing cells is to be reduced.

Project Details

Robolution is a full-service automation integrator for welding facilities. A core market for turnkey plants is the automotive industry. Systems join, for example, seat or chassis components using the arc welding process.

The system integrator primarily installs robots by ABB, Fanuc, Kuka and Yaskawa. The robot system of the respective production cell must work optimally with the welding devices and their fixtures such as torches or supports. Depending on the project, the robots were programmed by teaching or via the robot manufacturer's proprietary software, which represents a major effort.


Project Objectives & Difficulties

The effort required to program the robots should be reduced. In addition, there should be a uniform approach for programming in all projects. By simulating the cell even before commissioning, the objective is to eliminate as many sources of error as possible.


Confirmed Results

CENIT has successfully implemented FASTSUITE Edition 2 at Robolution.

With this 3D simulation platform, employees can program all robot systems. Due to the digital simulation twin of the manufacturing cell in FASTSUITE Edition 2, the plants can already be optimized to a very large extent. This significantly shortens the commissioning time. The uniform approach also ensures greater efficiency in the work processes. Manual teaching has been replaced.
