    Body in White

In the area of BiW (body in white, car body assembly), there are many different application technologies in use for fastening and sheetmetal assembly processes. For an optimum support of these applications, FASTSUITE provides specific technology integrations. These apps ensure the efficient creation of technology-optimized offline programs with high quality toolpaths.

Typical BiW technologies are, for example, spot welding and roller hemming.

    Spot Welding

The spot weld technology of FASTSUITE Edition 2 can be used to support fixed, stationary weld guns as well as complete BiW assembly lines.

The OLP functionality of FASTSUITE in conjunction with a spot weld technology package covers the following process steps:

    • import option for fastener definitions from engineering, including process planning information
    • gun selection support (reachability studies for weld points, collision validation)
    • automatic path planning and sequencing, including approach and retract motions
    • automatic application of controller commands and weld parameters
    • interpolation functions to avoid robot arm collisions and accessibility issues
    • simple teach-in functions to optimize linking motions

    Roller Hemming

Roller Hemming with FASTSUITE & NACHI

To achieve a perfect process result in roller hemming with robots, offline-programing and optimization are essential.

With FASTSUITE, roller hemming can be supported with the following features:

    • CAT-to-path algorithms on mathematical data, including arc support, for smooth and continuous robot motions
    • automatic creation of multiple hemming paths in just 1 operation, including linking motions and rework paths
    • parametric modification of the trajectory to fine-tune the path, and to efficiently support the commissioning phase
    • efficient offset and tangent interpolations to cope with local deviations between the CAD file and the real part
    • full cell workflow support, including rotary table, handling operations etc.
